Program Communications

  • Challenge:
    Ocean Spray wanted new and expecting mothers and their managers to be better prepared for what lies ahead personally and professionally for new mothers to help create a more understanding, compassionate and confident environment. They asked for our help in producing this booklet.
  • Solution:
    We produced a spiral bound booklet for managers to personalize for expecting mothers on their team. It detailed some statistics, quotes from employees, information on how to handle such things as travel during pregnancy, what to do while the employee is on leave and how to help them ease into their return to work, with a special emphasis on lactation rooms, finding support and what to do when the baby is sick. Checklists were also included to assist the manager in making sure the employee is prepared to go on leave and everything is needed when welcoming them back.
  • Result:
    Managers that previously had been uncomfortable with how to handle expecting and new mothers were now relieved to have guidance on the subject which resulted in more open communication. This open communication led to less confusion and questions to HR as well as an increased awareness and usage of the new lactation rooms.
